We slept well and woke around 9AM. A relaxed start to our day and it was 11AM before we were out the door. Today is the last day of nice weather before rain moves in so we decided to finish our walk around Capitol Mall and save the big museums for the rainy days to come. As we walked south towards the Lincoln Memorial, a motor cade of black Chevy SUVs with lights flashing rolled past us into the Ritz Carlton. It felt very official. We reached the Lincoln Memorial and sat on the steps enjoying the scenery. Next we walked along the Vietnam Memorial and the WWII memorial before walking along the tidal pool to see the MLK memorial, the FDR memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial.

On our way back towards the mall, we walked right past the Bureau of Printing and Engraving where money is printed. They happen to be having a tour right then so we jumped in. Pretty impressive to see money being printed!

We swung into the Smithsonian Castle but it was nothing but a Visitor Center so we moved on. The museum of Arts & Industry was closed for renovations, unfortunately, so we continued on. We stepped into the Hirshhorn Museum of Modern Art but it was too contemporary for what we wanted to spend our time on so we crossed the mall to the National Gallery of Art. We saw pieces from Manet, Monet, Renoir, Picasso, a lot of peices from Degas, and one piece of Da Vinci's.

We still had 40 minutes of museum-time left so we went across the street to the National Archives to see the original Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights. Museum hours done, we walked home, stopping by Whole Foods to grab groceries for dinner. Dinner cooked, we settled in to watch Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
