After going to bed late from face timing with Ty and the kiddos, we woke late. Mari had work today but was going to join us for outings over the weekend and Shane had the day off so we can play together. We planned on going to Kyoto today but since it was the Friday before we leave back for the U.S. we decided to call the airlines to see if we can pin down information about our departure and about our bags. Well that was a thorough run around that left us in a sour mood and wasted three hours of our day. By the time we made some progress (our bags are still in Shanghai and they can only be mailed to Japan, they will not mail them to the US. And still no word on changing our airline tickets) it was too late to go all the way to Kyoto so we decided to chill around Osaka.

Shane annoyed with the airlines
We took the train into town (with frequent stops to talk with the China Eastern Airlines representative on the phone) and stopped at the Yodibashi electronics department store. It was still loud and bright as I remember! They had Christmas songs playing and Christmas decorations out. We fiddled with the electronics. We snooped around for android smart watches but they didn't have any. After that, we were hungry and sought out a gyoza pot sticker place and ate extremely filling lunches. We had walked past a Mr. Donut on our way there so on the way back we stepped in and got some Japanese style donuts and coffee. Definitely not as sweet as American donuts but still very tasty.

Lunch!
We headed back to the train station, but not before stepping into an outdoor gear mall. It was crazy! They had stores from Mont Bell, Marmot, Columbia Sportswear, Snow Peak, Peak Performance, Mountain Hardware, and a couple other stores. Very enjoyable. Hopped on the train but stopped for a sunset stroll through Osaka castle grounds. The weather was very pleasant. An elderly Japanese gentleman came up to Mat and I to practiced his excellent English speaking skills with us. Nice gentleman. After it had grown dark we took the train back to Shane's place.
