I woke up with Shane and Mari, seeing them off to work. Mari made a delicious breakfast of omelet with soy sauce and brown sugar. Mat slept in until 10AM. After he woke, we reorganized our bags and set out to hit up some stores. First was the houseware store to find a replacement tea mesh for my tea pot. We also found a sesame seed grinder that we got for Shane & Mari as a gift. Next was the grocery store to buy snacks and foods that we wanted to bring back. We also picked up a nice colorful flower for Shane. We dropped all our stuff off at Shane’s place before heading over to McDonalds for lunch. We realized we didn’t have enough money to get back to the airport so we inhaled our lunch and power walked to the ATM at the post office.

Catching the train to the airport
Back at the house, we finished packing and made our way to the train. We got to the airport with plenty of time. Filled out a survey about visiting Japan and got a couple free post cards. Checking in at the desk and woman got our luggage paperwork without us having to ask, which is very encouraging. No difficulty with the flight over, Mat’s luggage was amongst the mountains of “lost luggage” and he went to retrieve it while I got my bag. We decided that if we carried on all lithium batteries and left our luggage unlocked, we’d probably not have our luggage “lost”. Mat was able to get his bag, not without two people trying to cut in front of him. Bags collected, we walked to the airport hotel, dropped our bags, and headed to the sky lounge for drinks and an appetizer. The rain was pouring down in sheets, it was fun to watch. Time for bed!

Both bags safely in our possession, finally!
