Rearing to go for our last day, we were hiking by 8:50 AM. We were able to follow some marshy moose trails alongside Glacier River. Eventually, we found the Winter Use trail which, while not any less marshy or even less tussocky, it did have most of the brush cleared away so the walking was slightly faster. We spotted many more Lemmings and some more falcons. However, there really weren’t too many birds around the entire trip. Maybe most of them started the flight south for the winter. We did come across a moose antler shed but never did see any moose. We reached Nolan road by 3:30 PM and started the last 5 smooth miles back to our car in Wiseman. It was fun to see all the animal tracks on the road: moose, bear, wolf, smaller critters.

Made it to the road!
We arrive at our car by 6 PM, changed into clean, dry cotton and chaco sandals to let our feet dry out, and booked it Coldfoot camp for their amazing All-You-Care-to-Eat buffet for $21 per person including salad, delicious bread, baked salmon, prime rib, potatoes & gravy, summer squash risotto, asparagus, broccoli, and a small list of desserts. It was so delicious I ate 2 whole plates! We checked in at the ranger station and started our drive back home. A blood red sunset sent us off from the Arctic, pulling over at Hess Creek to spend the night before driving the rest of the way home tomorrow.
