We slept in until the rain let down a little.  It rain all night but no problem for us! After breakfast, we tooled around Crescent creek right next to our campsite.  It's a beautiful and healthy creek, bright red salmon could be spotted in it's milky green waters. There was a log a little upstream where some huge salmon were jostling around, we figured they must be spawning Kings because they were a couple feet long! It was fun to watch them.  Mat set up a salmon egg bead and caught a couple of Dolly Vardens, one he caught in the gills so we kept that one to eat. After lunch, we headed out to do a second float of the Kenai, not as long this time so we can do more fishing and less floating.

We put in at Sportman's launch, Soleil and I once again dropping the car off at Jim's landing. There were a bunch of salmon just off the launch point but one is not allowed to fish from the shore there.  Dad, Soleil, and I got into the NRS raft while Mat and Josh got into the Shredder.  Mat immediately started casting once he was 10 ft from the shore and sure enough got a hit.  It was an entertaining site watching those two try to land a salmon from the little Shredder raft.  We were already caught in the current so we headed downstream to a possible place to fish and waited for them to catch up.  They were successful!  They landed that salmon but then lost our landing net afterwards!  Oh well!  We set up to fish but others walked into the same spot so we didn't fish for very long.  Dad did find some salmon vertebrae on the rocks, they would make some cool beads for jewelry!

We floated further down stream, the river is more crowded today since it was the weekend. We found a spot we had scoped out the day before.  A bunch of salmon swam away as we pulled up to shore, good sign?  We set up to fish.  I got a hit but lost the fly.  Very soon afterwards, Soleil got a hit and brought in a good sized sockeye with my fly in it's dorsal fin!  We spent most of the day fishing here.  Mat brought in a second salmon.  Dad gets some hits but doesn't bring anything in.  After hours of fishing, I eventually bring in my first salmon!  We end up fishing there until around 8:00PM before we pack up and float the rest of the river to Jim's landing.  We get into camp a little bit earlier and enjoy our dinners around the campfire with some s'mores.

Successful day
