We hit the streets around 10:30AM, rain already drizzling from the sky. A large amount of rain is forecasted for today so we headed straight for the big museums. We were planning to go to the National Space and Air Museum but the rain starting coming down hard so we ducked into the Museum of American History. I really liked the Star Spangled Banner exhibit; the flag is way bigger than I expected! The American Presidency and the Gowns of the First Ladies exhibits were interesting. We also enjoyed the Automotive and Julia Child exhibits.

When we left the museum at 1:00pm, there was a huge line to get in. We wanted to go to the National Museum of Natural History but there was a long line to enter there, too. We were hungry and didn't want to stand in line in the rain so we headed over to the Museum of the Native American. We ate lunch in the cafeteria offering foods from all over the Americas. We enjoyed the exhibits; they had an extensive exhibit about government treaties with the Native Americans and the aftermath. After that museum, museum hours were basically over so we stopped at the cafe for a Half-caff for Mat, a Mexican Hot Chocolate for myself, and rest for legs before making the trek back to our place. The walk back was dramatic in the rain and growing dusk. The Washington Monument raised up and disappeared into the clouds. We cooked dinner and spent the evening watching the Winter Olympics.
