Mat and I woke up about 11AM having slept well in the guest bedroom. We rose quickly knowing JT was to meet us at noon. Shelley woke up as well and showed us the upstairs patio. Unfortunately the building was having all the hand railings replaced so the whole south side of the apartment was covered in scaffolding; all the south-facing windows were covered in clear blue plastic and scaffolding and the large deck was in disarray since workers occupied it during the weekdays. But we still had the whole east side view to admire! JT showed up about noon, it was nice for him to join us from Philadelphia for a day of play. We hit the streets and went to Second Avenue Deli for some Jewish style food. This place was packed! They had an amazing assortment of pickles and yummy coleslaw. Mat had a delicious beef brisket sandwich. I was adventurous and tried the cow tongue sandwich with a chocolate soda. The sandwich was interesting - tongue is very mild, almost tasteless, meat. However, I almost lost it when I noticed the taste buds on my meat!

After eating, we walked over to Central Park and strolled across the Southern part of the park. Some street performers were gathering a crowd at the Bethesda Fountain, including a big-bubble maker and a violin duo that sang and dance in their makeup & costumes, jingling bells on their ankles to provide rhythm. On the far side of Central Park we hit the subway and headed over to Hell’s Kitchen area to walk the High Line Park. The four of us strolled south through the park as the sun went down and the light faded. A music group of young guys in Jewish garb were making a music video, which attracted a crowd. At the south end of the park, we exited and looked for a place to eat since the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre was nearby and we had tickets to the 7PM show. We found an old, wooden bar in Greenwich Village and had a snack and some drinks before heading up to the UCB Theater.

We snatched the last five seats for the improv show, Shelley’s friend joined us, and we enjoyed a 90 minute show starring some writers from Saturday Night Live. Great entertainment for $10! After the show, Shelley took us to Westville cafe in Chelsea for dinner. After dinner, we parted ways with Shelley’s friend and snagged a cab back to the apartment where we hung out until Max got home from his vacation in California. We finally crawled into bed about 2AM.
