Gig Harbor, WA —> 100 Mile House, BC [403 miles]

Woke up at Ty’s place around 7am. Mat finished packing up the car and, as he’s doing so, a bald eagle flies right over him; talk about a good omen! We left Ty & Colleen's at 9:15ish this AM in heavy mist/rain, which quit as we drove through Seattle. Thank goodness it’s Saturday, no traffic!!

Rainy first day!
Cloudy but slight showers on & off until the border, which we reached at 12:15pm. The crossing was no problem, they took our passports, asked us a few questions, wasn't even interested in seeing the dogs or their papers or any of our stuff, and sent us on our way by 12:45pm. Hit torrential rain driving up Canadian Hwy 3 that turned into snow as we drove through Hope, BC and onto Hwy 1. The snow didn't last long and soon we had partially clear skies and completely clear roads. We did fine the rest of the afternoon, got dark at 4:30pm. At 5:30pm we hit some thick freezing fog so we stopped at the first town we came to... 100 Mile House. The dogs slept the entire time (Barley had a little help from Trazadone). Good first day!

Sunset near Kamloops, B.C.
Temp in the 40s until Hope, BC. Dropped into the 30s & snowing. Stopped snowing by Boston Bar, warmed up to 40 degrees around Clinton, dropped into the 20s around 70 Mile House and then fog just before 100 Mile House.

Time to stop driving! 100 Mile House, B.C.
Staying at Super 8 Motel in 100 mile house

Weather tonight in 100 Mile House: 14˚F, foggy & lightly snowing.
