Dad flies out tonight so he packed up most of his stuff. The boys started playing some video games but I was able to roust them into some blueberry picking up at Arctic Valley. The weather was threatening rain but there were dry clouds amongst the downpours. We get up to Arctic Valley, not without a stop on the military road to wait for some exercise to finish. It poured hard during that stop but let up by the time we reached the parking lot. Dad was interested to see the ski resort. We hiked up about halfway before we found low blueberry bushes filled with blues. They were a bit tart but tasty all the same. It was a pretty day too, low clouds but we were able to look out over Anchorage and towards the Kenai.

After a couple hours, we were thoroughly wet but had filled up 3 plastic containers and decided to head home. We stopped by the store for some veggies and vanilla ice cream. Once home, we washed the berries and processed our salmon. Dinner was BBQ'd teriyaki salmon which we caught just yesterday, rice and veggies. Dessert was vanilla ice cream with wild Alaskan blueberries. The quintessential alaskan summer bounty meal and a good note to end dad's trip on. Delta airlines had a power outage yesterday that screwed up all their flights so dad's flight out was scheduled an hour later than originally planned. I dropped dad off at the airport and head on home. Come to find out dad had a 4 hour delay at not only the Anchorage airport but at the Seattle airport as well, adding 8 hours of travel to his day! Poor guy!
