Woken once again by the construction workers. We dressed, hit up a local bagel place for breakfast, which was just delicious, then headed over to the Metropolitan museum of art! We spent 5 hours there and that was only looking at 3 or 4 different halls, not even half the museum! We walked through the medieval art admiring the texts painstaking hand crafted & painted by monks. Then we wandered through the paintings of the 19th & early 20th century, particularly enjoying the impressionists and expressionists. There were original masterpieces such as Van Goghs, Monets, Manets, Paul Signac, Georges Seurat, Bierstadt, and Pissarro. Mat explained to me the work behind expressionism and impressionism, made me a huge fan of the work. It's nice to be married to someone with a bachelors in art history! We then saw the Matisse exhibit that had just opened and then the Arms and Armory exhibit. There was so much to see and not enough time to see it all! I purchased a pair of earrings from the gift shop that resemble a medallion from their medieval art collection.

After the museum, we walked some more through Central Park and over towards Hell’s Kitchen again where we caught dinner at Piccolo cafe, a tiny little Italian restaurant with fresh made pasta. NYC has a lot of these tiny, amazing restaurants that can only seat about five parties. Mat ordered pasta with a half lobster, I ordered a mushroom pasta. It was pretty good. After a delicious dinner, we took a taxi to Lincoln Center theatre and grabbed some drinks at the Lincoln before going in to see the 7PM show of War Horse. The show was so great, such a neat little theater and the puppeteering of the animals was amazing! Great, great show! After the show we took a cab back to the apartment to hang out with Shelley and Max until 1AM. Time for bed!
