We woke up to cloudy skies, strong winds, and high surf. Not a good day to be out on the water. We decided to go into Lahaina to check it out. It was early morning so we didn’t have to worry about parking. We parked in the free lot then walked down town to find some breakfast. We found Cheeseburger in Paradise for a nice breakfast on the second floor overlooking the ocean.

After breakfast, we walked around the little downtown, looking at the water vessels and some of the historical buildings, including the corner of the old fort built out of coral blocks and protected by cannons salvaged from old ship wrecks. As the shops started to open, the crowds started to thicken so we decided to head back to the hotel, both of us still feeling not 100%. We set ourselves up on the beach with a rented covered lounge chairs and spent the day reading in the sun, watching the whales and occasionally venturing out into the heavy seas for a swim. We watched the sun set, then back to the hotel room to freshen up before heading out for our last dinner in Hawaii. We ended up and Leilani’s for a nice meal (still unable to eat the whole thing) before heading back to the room for bed.
