Whitehorse, YK —> Tok, AK [386 miles]

We made it to Alaska!!! We spent the night in Tok. Roads were more snowy today. Partially clear skies, temps low 30s in Whitehorse, low teens in Tok. Drove the least improved section of the entire Alaska hwy, a section between Haines Jct and Beaver Creek. The entire highway has been nicely paved & flat. This section of ~100 miles felt very irregular and had many upheavals. SUPER beautiful scenery of the St. Elias mountains though, most beautiful scenery of the trip so far!

Welcome to Alaska!
Saw a Dahl sheep and coyote. We reached the border at 3:45 pm and, once again, had no problems being waved through. We pulled into Tok and got our hotel room at Young’s Motel around 5:30pm. The only other vehicle in the parking lot was a large truck in which the bed had been converted into dog cages… a dog sled team! We had dinner at Fast Eddies here in the parking lot. We’ll be in Anchorage tomorrow, only 6.5 hrs of driving :-) Happy New Year!!!
