April 6, 2020 - One month post-injection

Things are going much better. My hip isn't back to normal like it felt in December before my fall. But at least I am able to walk four miles with minimal pain. On my first walk, two weeks after the injection, I did a very slow three-mile walk. I would experience some pain but it wasn't as painful as before the injection and I didn't have pain the next day. After that, each time I went for a walk I would get farther before the pain would start. When I extended my walk to four miles, the pain came a bit and then went away. A couple of times after that, the pain would come and go and come and go. I started up my rigorous PT exercises again. My right leg was significantly weaker than my left leg after two months of favoring it, particularly my hamstrings and adductors. As I've focused on bringing my leg strength back up, I'ven noticed I walk longer and faster with less pain. I'm hoping to get back to 10-15 mile hikes as I continue strengthening. My next goal is to try either a six-mile flat walk or a four-mile hike with elevation. I also need to try carrying weight in a backpack but I'm very nervous about this since carrying weight in a backpack triggered pain in my hip before the fall. I'm also nervous that the injection is just masking the pain and will wear off after a couple of months. Hopefully, that's not the case.
