I've been doing really great. I was running four miles a couple times per week. I hiked an 11-mile hike with elevation but no weight. Although my legs were tired at the end of the hike I had no pain. It was incredible. But on December 26, I slipped and fell and have had pain in my R hip ever since.
I was stepping out of our RV, right leg leading. Apparently, my foot was on the edge of the step because it just slipped off and kept going down. The mid-step wasn't out so I went straight down an additional 18 inches to the concrete, landing on my right foot. The momentum was so great that I continued to fall towards my right. Instead of landing on my side, I flipped my body 90 degrees so that I landed on my hands and stomach. I didn't feel pain right away but it was definitely jarring on my body. Later that day, as we were driving to Pinnacles National Park, the R hip started aching. The next day we had a 10-mile hike planned. I felt fine so I went but five miles in I developed a strong ache in my R hip, back to that 4/10 constant. By the time we finished the hike I was limping, and very, very dejected!
I decided to rest my hip and wait it out. After two weeks without much improvement, I messaged Dr. Hagen. She doesn't think I did damage to the labral repair as she said it was a robust repair and six months of healing should be enough. She recommended 10 days of rest and ibuprofen twice a day. She says if there is improvement after the trial, I can continue to increase my activity and see her at my 1-year post-op appointment. But, if there is no improvement, I am to see her and probably get another corticosteroid injection into my hip.
