She had a successful surgery and is very active four years later so it’s great to be working with a therapist who has gone through the same process I’m going through. She taught me how to walk flat-footed with the crutches to initiate the crutch weaning process; she also taught me some of the stretches and exercises I need to be doing to get caught up on my recovery timeline. She measured my flexibility and watched my capabilities and thinks I’ll be able to catch up easily, which I was happy to hear since I want to be driving soon. The icing on the cake was that she had availability later this week so I scheduled an appointment to come in again this week. I was worried that she would be booked up for the week and I wouldn’t be able to come in again until next week but, luckily, that is not the case! So I’m very happy with my new physical therapist and think I’ll have a strong recovery!
July 15, 2019 - Post-op physical therapy (let's try this again)
Appointment with my new physical therapist today and I am very pleased with how it went. First off, there were people of all ages at this PT office. The best part was my physical therapist: a young, athletic woman who underwent the same surgery four years ago! She sustained her injury from playing soccer. But she was super interested in Dr. Hagen’s protocol and went over it with me. Since arthroscopic FAI & labral tear repair surgery is only about 10 years old, she is fascinated with the ongoing research, particularly the different protocols that different surgeons employ. She wonders, in 10 years, what the research will reveal as the best recovery methods.
