Appointment with my surgeon today. I told her about all the random pains that occur when I extend my stride, sit for too long, or walk downhill. After checking my flexibility, strength, and balance, she said she thinks the random pains are due to a combo of some scar tissue in the capsule (where my labrum stitches are) and overuse of my iliospoa muscle. Stretches and continued use should break down the scar tissue while exercises targeting my hamstrings and outer thigh should offload the use of my iliopsoas. She also reminded me that I'll continue to see improvement over the next year. But she was happy with how everything looked and performed so, after giving me some pages describing her recommended exercises, she told me that I didn't need any further appointments - unless a problem develops - and that I'm cleared to do any activity I wish. It was all good news.
The exercises she recommended where plank, side plank, bird dog, and single-leg dead lift. I also like to do pendulum lunges, hamstring curls with a resistance band, and elevated single leg bridges. I can't wait to focus on these exercises and see what progress comes about over the next six months, and where I'll be next year! We do plan to spend the next month completing the sections of the PCT we had to leave unfinished in 2017, moving slowly and carrying light packs. I am very excited!
